The D.C. medical examiner confirmed an aortic dissection — a tear in the body's main artery — as the cause. Sister named as replacement
Governor Henry McMaster announced on Monday that Darline Graham Nordone, Graham's younger sister, would serve out the remainder of his term until a special election can be held in early 2027. Nordone, who had not previously held elected office, received backing from President Trump, who praised the Graham family's service to South Carolina.
'Darline shares Lindsey's commitment to our nation and our state,' McMaster said in a statement. The appointment maintains the Republican majority in the Senate during a period of intense debate over military action in Iran and continued support for Ukraine.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell praised Graham's 'fierce dedication to America's national security.'
